The Man Picked up by the Gods – Volume 3 Chapter 153: Reunion 1 (1/3) (SHORT)

3 days later.

After traveling peacefully these past few days, we finally arrived at the Town of Gaunago, where the residence of the duke’s family was.

But as soon as we arrived, a new problem visited us at the gate.

“I’ll ask one more time. You are Fei-dono and Ryouma-kun. What is your objective for coming to Gimuru?” [Guard]

“I own a store, so I came here to have an audience with the duke.” [Ryouma]

“And I am his guard.” [Fei]

“But you didn’t go through the road from Kereban and instead went into the depths of the Forest of Gana, where you happened into 15 bandits, which you then killed. Is that correct?” [Guard]

“Perfectly correct.” [Ryouma]

“Normally, you would go through the main road. Why would you go out of your way to go into a forest where it’s hard to walk?” [Guard]

“I once lived at that forest for some time. We just dropped by to see it since it’s a nostalgic place for me. I’m also an adventurer, so I’m used to walking through forests. It’s a lot faster than having to go around.” [Ryouma]

“I see… But Fei-dono, I see that you’re not an adventurer.” [Guard]

“I have experience working as a soldier at my homeland. I gained my skill as an escort and how to walk through forests from there.” [Fei]

“A soldier from Zilmar.” [Guard]

“Former soldier.” [Fei]

“I see, I see…” [Guard]

…It’s been like this the whole time since I was moved to a room at the office of the guards. He’s been repeating the same thing over and over.

Although his demeanor is soft, he’s completely taken us in for questioning.

As someone who’s received this sort of treatment a lot in my past life, I can tell that he’s suspicious of us.

Still, isn’t it about time he let us go already?

This is way too long just to confirm the veracity of my claims for the bandit reward.

Is it really so suspicious to find a kid who lived at a forest for three years accompanied by a former soldier from another country?

Tl Note: This just counts as one release along with the previous chapter. That one wasn’t long enough, so this is just here to make up for the length.

    1. Can’t really officially adopt him since it would make it harder to marry him to their daughter later in the future.

      1. It’s very strange that they’re suddenly questioning them repeatedly like this JUST TO ENTER A CITY anyway.

I can almost guarantee that this is the doing of the Duke’s family, who are coming to pick him up personally or some stupidly crazy shet like that, lol.

Either that, or the Duke’s family is gonna be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissed here in a little bit. XD

      2. Not really, it’s not unusual for a noble to adopt a kid, then marry them when they get older. Picking up an orphan, and giving them a job in your home, is basically adopting them, but they don’t usually get inheritance rights. That’s about where Ryouma’s situation leaves him, he was picked up, and given a job taking care of one of their holdings, the tapped out mine.

  1. The answer is Yes. Where on earth would you find a kid living in a forest alone for 3 years. Plus a former soldier of waring state come with you.

  2. So it’s guard trouble now, As expected, a kid and a former soldier from a foreign country passing through a very dangerous forest and killing bandits is quite suspicious. Well, this makes me look forward to the next update.
Thanks for the translation! Awesome as always! May God bless you, take care, and have a great day!

  3. Well they are suspicious but verification for Ryouma wouldn’t take long considering his fame. Thanks for the chapter

  4. Im normally a ghost on this site but i just reached the end and so I want to say thanks for updating all the time!

  5. Wait, wut? I can see why you added this one… it was more like a “oh by the way, I got held up at customs” when you really wanna complain about them taking unnecessary fees… etc… sheesh.

    Thanks for the Translation!
